It’s a miracle! The great dabbling dork finished a project. Okay, okay. It was a very small project. That is probably why I could finish it in such a timely manner of which I am unaccustomed to doing. This dabbler doesn’t just frequent garage sales, I also looove flea markets and antique shops! I have some really great ones near my house. I can find some great things to buy, but I mostly go for ideas (shhh! Don’t tell the vendors) because people are pretty proud of their work (which they should be). Many things are just way out of my budget and I can’t swing them. However, I get it in my head that I could replicate it. I see something I like and I think, Puh, I could do that (insert “that ain’t no problem” gif here). I immediately get on Pinterest and pin about 10,000 similar ideas with every intention of making it. Well, every intention of thinking about making it.

While rare, on occasion, I actually do make something. In this case, I saw a message board made of chicken wire on a frame and it looked super easy to make. I am all about things that are easy. It actually turned out to be really easy to make and I really liked how it turned out.

I found a frame at a garage sale and the chicken wire at Michaels. Menards is my go-to for Rustoleum Chalked Paint. I prefer the spray paint because, you know, the easy factor. You can buy it in cans as well. I chose Serenity Blue, but I wanted a different look, so I first painted it white and then painted it with 2 coats of the blue. After letting it dry overnight, I used 220 fine grit sandpaper to sand along the creases, edges and wherever I thought needed it.

The edge of the finished frame.

The frame was originally brown, and I really liked to look of the white and brown coming through the blue. What do I know, though? For the chicken wire, I spray painted the metal white and then sanded it, as well. I attached it to the back of the frame with a staple gun and in no time at all it was done. As my 5 year old would say: Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy!

Finished project!

How did I do with this one? Have any other ideas of extremely easy projects I can maybe finish?
